Peguero’s homer leads Monclova to 6-2 win over Yucatan
Monclova, Coah. — If the Leones win the “World Series” of Mexico, it will have to be in seven games.
Francisco Peguero hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the Acereros del Norte to a 6-2 win over Yucatan. If Yucatan had won, they would have taken the Series del Rey in Game 6 on Tuesday.
Instead, as widely predicted, the national title will come down to Game 7 today (Wednesday) in Moncolva.
The home run by Peguero scored Noah Perio and Erick Aybar to give the Acereros a 5-2 lead.
The Acereros tacked on another run in the eighth when Alex Mejia hit an RBI single, driving in Alfredo Lopez.
Starter Yoanner Negrín pitched six innings, striking out six. Manny Parra, Andrés Ávila and Enrique Burgos followed in relief. Al Alburquerque (4-2) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Manny Parra (0-3) took the loss.
The deciding duel is 7:30 tonight (Wednesday), with José Samayoa meeting Conor Harber on the mound.
The game will be broadcast on Multimedios, SKY Sports, TUDN, SIPSE TV, and Tele Yucatán, and can be heard RASA, Radio Centro, La Comadre 98.5 and KISS 97.7. Online, it’s available on Facebook Live and the Internetv and Cinépolis KLIC platforms.
Although the all-important matchup is an away game, the game is also broadcast in Merida, on the Kukulcán Alamo Park mega-screen, where thousands enjoyed the game on Tuesday.
