The remains of two cyclists, including an Izamal native, were found in a cenote almost two weeks after they were reported missing.
José V. P. M., 45, and Rosendo I.L., 31, were found dead in Benito Juarez, south of the resort city. They were last seen Aug. 4 in Cancun.
The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office started a search after relatives reported them missing.
According to Infoqroo, the bodies showed signs of violence.
The authorities cordoned off the area and so far it is unknown what happened to their bicycles and personal items, including their mobile phones.
The bodies were already in a state of decomposition. The families will not be allowed to receive the bodies while police investigate.
