Merida, Yucatan —Two days of heavy traffic is what is expected Centro because of two events that will take place in the first square of the city.
Monday is a visit from President Enrique Peña Nieto, who will inaugurate Palacio de la Música, located on Calle 58 at 59. Then on Tuesday, a visit by the leading presidential candidate, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, will further complicate the traffic situation. AMLO, as he in known, is making a stop at the Plaza Grande.
City officials indicated that due to the visit of the president, access to the Palacio de la Música will be closed, due to security issues. Roads will be closed starting at noon in the vicinity.
A platform will be installed on Calle 61 and 60 for AMLO’s campaign stop. Security is expected to be tight starting at 11 p.m. today at Calle 58 and 61, and Calle 60 with 63.
Road problems are expected. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes.
