A 3-year-old Ticul girl residing in Oxkutzcab was rushed to a Shriners hospital in Texas, United States, due to the serious burns she suffered in a severe kitchen accident.
The State Government, in coordination with the Michou and Mau Foundation, supported the air transfer to the United States of this little girl who requires specialized care due to her condition, according to what was reported in a bulletin.
The director of the General Hospital “Dr. Agustín O’Horán”, Marco Antonio Cetina Cámara, pointed out that the infant received care from professionals from the pediatric area of the hospital, since last February 23, when she had the accident at home.
Subsequently, the state government took on the task of initiating the corresponding steps, before the Michou and Mau foundation, in the search for the required services. As a result, the patient was scheduled to be taken to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Galveston, Texas.
The Shriners Hospital for Children – Texas is a 30-bed non-profit pediatric burn hospital, research, and teaching center at a University of Texas medical branch campus.
It is one of the three out of 22 Shriner’s Hospitals that specialize exclusively in burn care.
She was transferred in a high-tech SSY ambulance and then in the air unit, which arrived in the territory on the night of the 25th and left for his destination at 04:00 that day. During the flight, she was supervised by medical and paramedical burn experts from Michou and Mau.
According to what could be found out, the minor has serious burns in almost half of her body, after spilling a pot of hot tomato sauce.
